Modern Roman Shades

We meet with a lot of people in our showroom as well as in their homes. Recently, we have had a lot of requests for Roman shades. These are not a new design, but a treatment virtually everyone has heard about. Window treatments, just like clothing fashion, comes and goes and comes back again. We are seeing trends come back in the window treatment industry, but we don’t consider it a trend if they can make a lasting impression and have a long shelf...err window sill…life.

There have been a lot of upgrades and modernization that has taken place since Roman shades first made an appearance in American homes. There are many different manufacturers, but here at ShadesToYou, we select our manufacturers carefully – paying special attention to quality, durability and beauty. Hunter Douglas has taken the Roman shade design and streamlined it into a collection they call, Vignettes: Modern Roman Shades. You can compare the back of the shade by looking at the picture below where they have eliminated the need for strings, giving your house a beautiful, clean look from the street. There are now multiple operating systems for whatever works for you (roll, stack and motorized). With so many options, including luxurious to casual fabrics, there is certainly something for everyone.

Some advantages of Roman shades is that they do provide a soft, curtain-like appearance to your windows. They can stand alone or complement additional soft treatments such as panels or a top valance. Below, you will see we have selected some of our favorite looks for inspiration.

If you would like to know more, we would love the opportunity to provide a free in home consultation on any of our Roman shades or other beautiful window treatment options.
